Walking Tours of Tzfat

ASCENT offers its guests free guided walking tours of the picturesque and historic Old City of Tzfat, including a visit to the graves of great Kabbalists and Torah sages buried in the Ancient Cemetery. Many synagogues in the Old City date from the 16th century are still in use today.

Guided Hikes

Free guided hikes from Ascent may include a walk down into the river valley Nahal Amud, where grapes, figs, raspberries and roses grow wild in the summer; a cross country walk to the ancient town of Meron where Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, writer of the Zohar and originator of Jewish mysticism is buried; or a walk through the Biriya forest to Amuka, a beautiful forested crevice amongst the Canaan Mountains, burial place of the great sage Rabbi Yonason ben Uziel, who, in order to repent for having remained unmarried his entire life, is reputed to help anyone who prays sincerely at his gravesite find their true mate within a year.
